The man that started it all. Charles bought the farm that would become Wilmot Orchards in 1975, before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph in 1976. Charles’ main passion is growing apples, however, he wanted to try his hand at blueberries, and after a government land test stated he couldn’t grow blueberries on the farm, he knew he had to prove them wrong and that he did. While farm retirement is quickly coming up for Charles, he continues to be very active in the agriculture community holding numerous Board of Director or Chairperson positions with the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association, Canadian Horticulture Council and the Ontario Apple Growers Association.
